Start with your engine’s service schedule and the last replacement invoice. A belt can fail without warning, and a clean appearance cannot tell you how much life remains.
Compare the applicable engine-specific interval with the date and mileage recorded on the last timing-kit invoice. There is no single interval for every Caddy.
If you cannot confirm when the kit was changed, book an assessment and establish the correct replacement plan for your engine.
A squeal or chirp, visible cracking or glazing, or coolant near the timing cover needs investigation. The source and pump drive must be identified before quoting.
We use the vehicle-specific schedule, duty cycle and documented history. A regional rule of thumb or a clean-looking belt does not replace the manufacturer’s requirements. Check the engine-specific service schedule, then compare it with the invoice recording the last kit replacement, date and mileage. Position the engine and use the specified crankshaft and camshaft locking tools before removing the old belt.
Install the quoted belt, tensioner, applicable idlers and required fixings. Complete any approved pump, seal, separate-drive and coolant work.
Complete the engine-specific manual rotation, tension and timing checks. Follow any required coolant procedure, then check running and leaks and record the completed work.

Follow the schedule for the engine code, model year and original market, including age or inspection requirements where specified. We do not apply one 90,000-km or five-year rule to every Caddy. Missing history, contamination or abnormal noise requires assessment even if the scheduled interval is not yet due.

Earlier EA111 1.2 TSI examples such as CBZA/CBZB use a chain. The TSI badge or registration year alone does not identify every engine’s drive. Repeated rattle or correlation faults need appropriate timing and oil-supply checks; they do not by themselves prove chain stretch.
On an engine where the camshaft timing belt drives the pump, combined replacement can share access and prevent a later pump job disturbing the new kit. Other engines have a separate pump drive. We identify that arrangement and explain pump condition, applicable procedure and the quoted parts list.
A broken or jumped belt can cause valve-to-piston damage on an interference engine. Stop and avoid further cranking; arrange recovery. Inspection establishes whether timing repair, cylinder-head work or a larger engine repair is needed; replacement is not assumed without assessing damage.
A straightforward, planned job may take four to six hours after parts and engine details are confirmed. Diagnosis, leaks or additional damage can extend it. The workshop confirms appointment availability and completion timing.
Gentle driving does not make an overdue or suspect belt safe. Arrange advice before travelling, particularly with missing history, contamination or noise. Stop and seek assistance for a suspected timing failure, slapping noise, poor running or an engine that has stopped suddenly.
