Newer UAE-market Jetta?

Volkswagen Dubai now lists a new Jetta with a 1.5 TSI engine and 7-speed DSG. Do not assume it uses the same transmission as a Mk7 import.

Check the VIN, service plan and warranty provider first. For a manufacturer warranty claim or recall, contact the authorised dealer before approving independent paid repair.

Volkswagen Dubai Jetta specifications, checked October 2026.

Which Jetta faults need checking?

Heat, stop start traffic and long idling with the AC on are hard on any compact sedan. Use the symptom below to understand the first useful checks. For every fault by year and engine, read our Jetta problems guide.

Cooling

Overheating and coolant loss

Water pump, thermostat housing, radiator or fan faults, often showing first in summer traffic.

We check a pressure test and fan operation before replacing parts.
Electrics

Battery and charging warnings

Slow starts, a battery light or start stop not working.

We check a battery test, charging voltage and battery coding.
Automatic

Harsh or delayed shifts

Flare between gears, a jolt into drive or limp mode.

We check fluid level and condition, fault codes and adaptations. See our Jetta transmission guide.
Engine

Misfires and rough idle

A flashing engine light or shaking idle, possible ignition, fuelling, air-leak or mechanical faults. Stop safely for persistent flashing, severe shaking or unsafe power loss.

We check misfire counters and coil swaps. See the camshaft sensor page for related codes.
Drivetrain

Clicking on turns

A worn CV joint clicks on full lock and vibrates under power.

We check CV boots and joint play on a lift.
Suspension

Humming at speed

A worn wheel bearing hums louder with speed and changes in corners.

We check a road test and bearing play on a lift.

Jetta engine, cooling and clutch repairs

Timing belt, engine replacement, radiator, oil changes and clutch. What each job involves on the Jetta, the signs to watch for and a guide price.

Belt engines

Jetta timing belt replacement

The 1.4 and 1.5 TSI in the Mk7, the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine in many Mk6 Jettas, and the 2.0 FSI and TFSI in the Mk5 use a timing belt. The 2.0 TSI GLI and some other engines use a chain instead. A snapped belt usually bends valves, so use the actual engine and market schedule rather than one model-wide interval.

  • When by the interval for your engine code, and with any severe-use requirements assessed for the exact application.
  • What we fit belt, tensioner and idlers as a kit, with pump work specified separately according to its drive, condition and shared access.
  • Signs squeal or whine from the front of the engine, cracks on the belt or coolant near the pump.
Timing belt kit fitted AED 1,500 to 3,500
Major repair

Jetta engine replacement

Deep knocking, heavy oil use, low compression or damage after overheating can make a replacement engine better value than a repair. We prove the diagnosis first with compression, leak down and oil tests.

  • Options tested used, remanufactured or new engines, each with its warranty on the quote.
  • Find the cause we fix what killed the old engine, such as a cooling fault or oil starvation.
  • Fitted with new gaskets, fluids, filters and, where needed, a timing kit and water pump.
Used AED 10,000 to 20,000 · Remanufactured AED 12,000 to 25,000 · New AED 15,000 to 30,000
Cooling

Jetta radiator and cooling fan replacement

Coolant loss, a pink crust on the radiator, the temperature rising in traffic or fans that never switch off point to the radiator, the cooling fan or its control.

  • We check a pressure test, fan operation and the thermostat before replacing parts.
  • The job radiator replaced, VW approved coolant refilled and the system bled so no air is trapped.
  • Overheating? Pull over and switch off. Driving on risks head gasket damage.
Radiator AED 600 to 1,200 · Labour AED 250 to 400 · Coolant flush AED 150 to 300
Routine

Jetta oil change

Oil approval, level and the appropriate service schedule matter for engine protection. TSI engines in particular need oil that meets the correct VW approval, not just the right thickness.

  • Included oil to the VW specification for your engine, a new filter, fluid top ups and a quick inspection.
  • How often use the exact engine/market maintenance requirements, service display and recorded work.
  • Oil filter a genuine VW filter is fitted every time. The filter element on many Jetta engines sits in a housing on top of the engine, and its seal is replaced too so it does not leak.
  • Air filter see our Jetta air filter page.
Oil change AED 250 to 550 · With genuine filter and VW 502 00 or 504 00 oil AED 450 to 850

Jetta clutch disc, pressure plate and release bearing on a workbench
Manual Jettas

Jetta clutch replacement

A slipping clutch, a high bite point, judder pulling away or difficulty selecting gears are the usual signs. Stop start Dubai traffic wears clutches faster.

  • We check a road test for slip, the hydraulics and flywheel condition.
  • What we fit clutch plate, pressure plate and release bearing, with the flywheel assessed and the approved action stated on the quote.
  • DSG Jettas dual clutch faults are diagnosed separately through the transmission guide.
Clutch kit AED 1,000 to 3,500 · Labour AED 500 to 1,200

Jetta battery, charging, key and lighting repairs

Batteries, alternators, key fobs and headlights, with the coding each one needs.

Electrics

Jetta battery replacement

Heat, use and charging condition affect battery life; age alone does not diagnose failure. Slow cranking, start stop not working or random warning lights are early signs.

  • The right type older Jettas use a standard battery, while cars with start stop need an EFB or AGM battery.
  • Coding on newer Jettas the new battery is registered with VW software so it charges correctly.
  • We test the charging system too, so a weak alternator does not kill the new battery.
Standard AED 400 to 600 · EFB AED 600 to 900 · AGM AED 900 to 1,200
Charging

Jetta alternator replacement

A battery light, dim or flickering lights, a whining noise or a battery that keeps going flat point to the alternator or its regulator.

  • We check charging voltage under load, the belt and the battery before replacing the alternator.
  • Parts OEM supplier or genuine VW alternators. The quote identifies the proposed alternator specification.
  • Typical time about one and a half to two and a half hours.
Fitted AED 1,500 to 3,400
Jetta key fob programming
Jetta key fob programming
Keys

Jetta key fob replacement

A spare key, a lost key, or a remote that no longer locks the car. A flat key battery or lost sync is common and cheaper to fix than a new key.

  • Proof of ownership bring the registration card and your Emirates ID or passport.
  • Coding transponder and remote programmed with VW tools, and lost keys removed from the immobiliser.
  • All keys lost possible on most Jettas but takes longer, so we confirm first.
Transponder key AED 185 to 550 · Remote fob AED 370 to 1,100 · All keys lost AED 500 to 1,300
Lighting

Jetta headlight replacement

A cracked or yellowed lens, moisture inside, a failed bulb or a headlight warning. Halogen lamps are simple, while xenon and LED units often need coding and aim adjustment.

  • We check bulb, ballast or LED module and wiring before replacing the whole unit.
  • After fitting headlight aim set and any coding done with VW software.
  • Faded lenses can sometimes be restored instead of replaced.
Halogen AED 400 to 800 · Xenon AED 1,200 to 2,400 · LED AED 1,500 to 3,000

Jetta brakes, axles and suspension

Clicks, vibration, humming, squealing and a car that sits low on one corner. What we check and what it costs.

Drivetrain

Jetta CV axle replacement

Clicking on full lock, a clunk when pulling away or vibration under acceleration usually means a worn CV joint. A split boot lets grease out and dust in, which wears the joint quickly.

  • Catch it early a torn boot can often be replaced before the joint is damaged.
  • We check boots, joint play and the inner joint on a lift.
  • The job complete axle or CV joint replaced, with a road test afterwards.
CV joint AED 600 to 1,200 · Front axle AED 1,200 to 2,500
Suspension

Jetta wheel bearing replacement

A humming or growling noise that rises with speed and changes in corners, play in the wheel, or an ABS warning, as the ABS ring is often part of the bearing.

  • We check a road test and a lift check to find the right corner.
  • The job hub bearing replaced and the ABS signal checked.
  • Do not wait a failing bearing gets hot and can damage the hub.
Bearing AED 300 to 800 · Labour AED 150 to 400
Brakes

Jetta brake pad replacement

Squealing, grinding, a longer pedal or a brake warning need inspection. A soft/long pedal or changed braking can be a hydraulic or other safety fault; stop safely and arrange assistance. Dubai traffic and heat wear pads faster, and front pads usually go first.

  • We measure pad thickness and disc condition on every corner, and test the brake fluid.
  • Parts genuine Volkswagen or suitable OEM supplier pads, with the proposed specification listed on the quote.
  • Electronic parking brake on newer Jettas the rear calipers are wound back with VW software.
Front pads AED 600 to 1,200 · Rear pads AED 450 to 900 · Brake fluid AED 150 to 300
Brakes

Jetta brake rotor replacement

A steering wheel shake under braking, a pulsing pedal, deep grooves or a lip on the disc edge need disc thickness, run-out, hub, tyre and suspension checks; appearance or vibration alone does not prove a warped or undersize disc.

  • Resurface or replace rotors above minimum thickness can sometimes be skimmed. Thin or cracked rotors are replaced.
  • Always in pairs both sides on the axle, with new pads so they bed in evenly.
  • Bed in we finish with a road test and bed in procedure.
Per axle AED 600 to 1,200 · Front and rear with pads AED 1,200 to 2,400
Suspension

Jetta coil spring replacement

A clunk over bumps, one corner sitting lower than the others or uneven tyre wear can mean a broken or sagging coil spring. Broken springs can cut into tyres, so they need attention quickly.

  • We check ride height, the spring coils, top mounts and shock absorbers on a lift.
  • In pairs springs are replaced per axle so the car sits level.
  • After fitting a wheel alignment check is recommended.
Front pair AED 700 to 1,200 · Rear pair AED 600 to 1,000 fitted

Jetta transmission and valve body repairs

Most Jetta automatics are the 6 speed 09G, with DSG on GLI and some TSI models and an 8 speed automatic on the Mk7. Heat is hard on all of them, so fluid condition is the first thing we check.

Automatic and DSG

Jetta transmission repair

Delayed or harsh shifts, the engine revving without the car pulling, a jolt into drive, a burning smell or limp mode. Many of these are fixed without replacing the gearbox.

  • Step 1, diagnose fault codes, fluid level and condition, and a road test with live data.
  • Step 2, applicable work fluid correction, software or basic settings only where testing and the fitted-unit procedure support them.
  • Step 3, repair valve body, mechatronic or clutch pack repair before considering a rebuild or replacement.
  • Prevention regular fluid changes matter more in UAE heat.
Fluid change AED 200 to 400 · Minor repair AED 1,500 to 4,000 · Rebuild AED 5,000 to 8,000 · Replacement AED 8,000 to 12,000
09G automatic

Jetta valve body replacement

The valve body directs fluid to engage each gear. When it wears, shifts become harsh, delayed or slip, often worst when the gearbox is hot. On an 09G gearbox, confirm hydraulic operation before recommending a valve body.

  • Confirm it first pressure and solenoid codes, plus adaptation values.
  • Fitted with fresh fluid and a basic setting with VW software.
Valve body AED 1,500 to 4,000 · Labour AED 600 to 1,200

Fuel system

Jetta fuel pump replacement

Long cranking before it starts, stalling, loss of power under load or a fuel pressure code. TSI and FSI Jettas have an in tank pump and a high pressure pump on the engine, and either can fail.

  • We test fuel pressure on both sides before replacing anything.
  • Cheaper causes the relay, fuel filter or wiring.
  • Tip running on a near empty tank in summer makes the pump run hotter.

Body

Jetta rear bumper replacement

Cracks, a loose or sagging bumper, broken clips after a minor knock, or parking sensors that stopped working after an impact.

  • Repair first clips, brackets and small cracks can often be repaired.
  • Replacement new bumper painted to match.
  • Sensors parking sensors refitted and tested.
Bumper AED 800 to 1,500 · Labour AED 200 to 500

Jetta service schedule for UAE conditions

Follow the engine- and market-specific maintenance plan and fixed/flexible service regime. Review the actual service record, display and duty cycle before choosing oil, filter, plug, brake-fluid or gearbox work.

What to plan and when

  1. 1

    Every service

Oil and filter to the correct VW approval, fluid levels, brakes, tyres, battery test and a diagnostic scan.

  2. 2

    Every second service

Air and cabin filters, spark plugs by interval, brake fluid by time, and a cooling system check.

  3. 3

    By engine and gearbox

Timing belt on belt engines by age and distance, automatic or DSG fluid, coolant, and suspension checks at higher mileage.

Intervals vary by engine and model year. We check your service record and the car's service display before recommending work.

Which parts and repair option fits?

Compare a repair with a correctly matched component. An assembly price is useful only when the condition, fitting and associated work are clear.

Genuine Volkswagen
Volkswagen-branded parts matched to the vehicle. Ask for the part details and availability on the written quote.
OEM supplier
The proposed manufacturer and specification should be named. Compare the complete fitted scope with the genuine option where both are available.
Repair or larger replacement
Use the test findings to choose. Compare parts condition, labour, fluids, coding and testing. The proposed parts and price are listed before you approve work. Old parts are returned on request. Ask for the warranty terms for the specific job.

What happens after you contact us?

  1. 1

    Tell us what changed

Year and symptom first, mileage and history if available.

  2. 2

    Establish the cause

Scan and physical tests selected for the fault.

  3. 3

    Compare and approve

Parts options, labour and the agreed timeline on the written quote.

  4. 4

    Collect with an explanation

Road-test relevant repairs and review the completed work.

Timing depends on the agreed work and parts supply. Request the inspection time separately from the expected repair completion date. A quote request is not a confirmed booking.

Jetta questions

Straight answers before you book your Jetta in.

How much does a Jetta oil change cost?

The page guide is AED 250 to 550 for a Jetta oil change. The engine, oil approval, quantity and filter specification determine the quote. A fuller service adds the items actually due from the service history. Ask for the oil and filter details, labour and tax treatment before approving the job.

Does every Jetta use the same gearbox?

No. Jettas in the UAE include conventional automatics, manual gearboxes and DSG versions, with different market specifications. The current UAE-market 1.5 TSI also needs identifying separately from older imports. We confirm the unit before recommending fluid, adaptations or parts. Describe when the fault occurs, especially cold versus hot.

Does my Jetta have a timing belt or chain?

Both arrangements exist across Jetta engines. The model badge or registration year alone is insufficient to select the kit or replacement interval. We identify the engine code and service requirements, then check the history. Belt, tensioners, idlers and any associated pump work should be listed clearly in the written quote.

Can harsh shifts be repaired without a replacement gearbox?

Harsh shifts can involve fluid level or condition, controls, the valve body, clutch operation or internal wear. A scan alone does not establish which repair is needed. Testing comes before an assembly recommendation. The quote should distinguish a fluid service, component repair, rebuild and replacement so you can compare the options.

What should I do if the Jetta overheats?

Pull over safely, switch off and allow the engine to cool if the temperature warning indicates overheating. Avoid opening a hot coolant cap or continuing to drive with coolant loss. A pressure test and operating checks identify the leak or cooling fault. Fixing the cause matters before simply adding coolant or replacing parts.

Are genuine and OEM parts available?

The workshop homepage offers genuine Volkswagen and OEM supplier parts, listed on a written quote. Ask which exact manufacturer and specification is proposed for your engine and gearbox. Compatibility matters more than a broad label. Where alternatives are available, compare the complete installed scope and the warranty terms written for that job.

Should I repair or replace the Jetta engine?

First establish the damage and its cause with suitable tests. The existing replacement guide spans AED 10,000 to 30,000 across used, remanufactured and new options, with the exact scope confirmed by quote. Repair may be more appropriate for a limited fault. Do not compare an engine-only price with a complete fitted repair.

How do I book, and how long does work take?

Call 056 464 6081 or WhatsApp the year and problem to our Al Quoz 4 workshop. Routine service, battery or brake work is often completed the same day when agreed and parts are available. Engine and gearbox work need a separate timeline after assessment. An enquiry becomes a booking only when confirmed.
