A Caddy that overheats or loses compression can often be saved if it is caught early. These are two possible jobs, and how we decide between repair and replacement.
Replacing the engine makes sense when the block, crank or cylinders are damaged, or when the cost of repairs adds up to more than a replacement. Confirmed damage after overheating, timing failure or oil starvation can justify this assessment.

We run a compression or leak down test first, because a head gasket or cylinder head job is often enough. If replacement is the right call, we match the engine code, transfer or renew the ancillaries, renew due items according to the engine layout, and perform any required electronic setup. The water pump circulates coolant between the engine and radiator. Its seal and bearing wear with heat and age, and a working van that idles for hours with the AC on puts the pump under constant load. The pump drive and access vary by engine. We confirm the engine code before planning any shared timing-belt work.
We pressure test the system to confirm the pump is the leak. When the pump and timing-belt access overlap, we check which items are due and itemise the sensible combined work. A recent documented belt does not automatically need replacing again. We refill with VW specification coolant, bleed the air out and run the engine to temperature. Parts typically cost AED 400 to 1,000 and labour AED 500 to 1,500, depending on the engine.
Load and daily use matter when investigating suspension wear and wheel noise. We inspect the affected axle and distinguish dampers, springs, mounts, tyres and bearings before quoting parts.
Shock absorbers keep the tyres pressed to the road. When they wear, the Caddy bounces, leans in corners and takes longer to stop, and the effect is worse with a load in the back. Caddy 3 and Caddy 4 vans use leaf springs at the rear, so we check the springs and mounts at the same time.
For passenger Kombi and Life models we fit shocks tuned for comfort. For cargo vans, the replacement must match the axle specification and intended use. A different damper does not increase the vehicle load rating. The listed shock estimate covers a matched pair on the same axle, and we check top mounts, bump stops and bushes before quoting.
Wheel bearings let the wheels turn freely while carrying the weight of the van and its load. Bearing and hub construction vary by axle and generation. We confirm the correct bearing or hub assembly and inspect the associated wheel-speed signal.

We confirm which wheel is noisy with the van on the lift, because bearing noise travels. The new hub is torqued to specification and the ABS signal is checked on the diagnostic tool before a road test.
A business van with one key is one lost key away from a day off the road. We cut and code spare and replacement keys with VW software.
Caddy keys carry a transponder chip that the immobiliser must recognise before the engine will start. A new key has to be cut to your locks and coded to the van with VW diagnostic software. Pressing buttons alone will not pair it.

Existing component guides are AED 5,500 to 9,000 for used, AED 7,500 to 12,000 for rebuilt and AED 10,000 to 18,000 for new engines. Listed fitting is AED 2,000 to 3,500. Ask which ancillaries, fluids and electronic setup are included. Testing may show that a cylinder-head or other smaller repair is sufficient.

Yes, key cutting and programming are listed services, with genuine-key work guided at AED 800 to 1,500. Coding access and the supplied key depend on the generation and key type. Bring existing keys and ownership documents. Ask what the quote includes, because remote repair, programming an existing key and supplying a new key are different jobs.
