Charge, airflow and pressures
Check refrigerant condition and leakage, condenser airflow and fans, pressure readings and vent temperature. Low charge or poor airflow can imitate a compressor problem.
Warm air does not automatically mean a failed compressor. Our independent Al Quoz 4 workshop checks your Passat's refrigerant circuit and compressor control before recommending a repair or matched replacement.
Compressor part guide: AED 1,500–2,800. Fitting, refrigerant and related work are separate; compare the cost breakdown below before approving a complete job.

Use these indicative component budgets to plan the work. Your Passat's specification and the confirmed repair determine the complete quote.
| Item | Guide price |
|---|---|
| Compatible OEM-supplier compressor part | AED 1,500–2,800 |
| Removal and fitting labour | AED 400–600 |
| Refrigerant recharge | AED 150–300 |
| Related seals or small parts, where needed | AED 100–250 |
Tell us whether cooling fails at idle, after warming up or all the time. Noise, weak cooling and an AC fault code identify symptoms rather than a replacement part.
Check refrigerant condition and leakage, condenser airflow and fans, pressure readings and vent temperature. Low charge or poor airflow can imitate a compressor problem.
Check the relevant electrical supply, commands, wiring and fitted control valve or drive arrangement. A separately serviceable control fault may have a different repair from internal compressor damage.
Trace the actual leak and assess compressor condition. Musty odours alone do not establish compressor failure; condensate beneath the car is not proof of a refrigerant leak.
For blower, temperature-flap, condenser, evaporator or general cooling faults, see Volkswagen AC diagnosis and repair.
Passat generations, engines and original-market specifications differ. VIN, compressor label, refrigerant label and actual equipment determine compatibility.
Review component repair versus replacement, the proposed parts and the complete written price before work starts.
Internal damage can spread debris. Follow the vehicle and compressor supplier's instructions for cleaning suitable circuit sections and replacing non-flushable or contaminated components. Installing another compressor into a dirty circuit risks repeat failure.
Recover refrigerant, fit the specified seals and compressor, and use the correct oil specification and quantity. Evacuate and recharge by the vehicle's specified mass; do not assume every Passat uses the same gas.
Check leaks, pressures, vent temperature, control operation and relevant warnings under suitable conditions. Diagnosis, parts sourcing and contamination work determine completion time.
Grinding, smoke or suspected belt/drive damage needs prompt assessment. Stop safely if operation is unsafe; discuss transport before moving the car.
Decide on the repair after testing.
No. Refrigerant loss, airflow, controls and temperature-flap problems can produce warm air. Pressure, electrical and leak checks establish whether the compressor or another component needs work.
Only where the fitted compressor supports that repair and testing confirms a serviceable valve fault. Internal wear, contamination or a damaged housing can make complete replacement necessary.
No universal age-based replacement interval applies. Replace a compressor when its diagnosed condition justifies it, and address the cause of failure and required circuit work.
