Diagnosis and initialisation
For fault checks and one-touch setup where loss of the learned position is the only issue.
Polo window stuck, slow, dropping or grinding? The fault can be the motor, the regulator cables, the switch or the wiring in the door hinge. We test each one at our Al Quoz 4 workshop, replace only the part that has failed and complete the required setup and checks for fitted one-touch and anti-pinch functions before you collect.
Motor repair AED 350 to 550. New motor AED 750 to 1,200. Indicative Dubai prices for the Polo Mk5 and Mk6. Your written quote confirms the exact part.

Polo window motor repair costs AED 350 to 550, a new motor AED 750 to 1,200 and a full motor and regulator AED 1,200 to 1,600 per door. We scan the door module and check the voltage at the motor plug first, so only the failed part is replaced. Your written quote confirms the part.
Motor repair is estimated at AED 350–550; a new motor is AED 750–1,200 fitted. The right option depends on whether the fault is electrical, mechanical or a lost window setting.
If the motor works correctly and the design allows it, we can quote the regulator separately. Switches, wiring, clips and guides are assessed individually; there is no need to assume a complete assembly is required.
These are indicative estimates per affected door for the listed Polo applications. New-motor and full-assembly guides include fitting and setup. Your quote confirms the part brand, diagnosis charge, labour, VAT, additional repairs and applicable warranty terms. Ask whether diagnosis is separate from the repair total.
The symptom helps plan the checks, but motor, regulator, switch, wiring and glass alignment faults can overlap. Stop operating a dropping or grinding window and keep hands clear.
Nothing happens when you press the switch.
Check. Switch, fuse, wiring or a dead motorYou hear the motor run, but the window does not move.
Check. Snapped regulator cable or stripped gearThe glass struggles, especially on hot days.
Check. Worn motor or dry, tight window guidesThe window falls into the door or sits crooked.
Check. Broken regulator clip or cableNoise from inside the door while the window moves.
Check. Frayed cable or damaged pulleyThe window works but will not auto close, or bounces back down.
Check. Lost initialization, excessive resistance, alignment or a control faultA Polo power window has three main parts. We check the electrical supply, controls and mechanical movement before ordering parts.
The electric motor with its control unit. We assess power and ground under load, control signals and any binding mechanism. Voltage at an unplugged connector alone does not prove the motor has failed.
The rails, cables and clips that lift the glass. A running motor with stationary glass calls for checking the cables, gears, clips and glass attachment.
Door switches and the wires that bend in the door hinge. Broken wires in the hinge rubber are common on high mileage cars.
Generation is a starting point. Body style, market specification, door position and the fitted motor or regulator determine the replacement.

The motor, cable regulator and controls need to match the actual door. Electric-window equipment varies by market and trim; a registration year alone does not confirm the part.
Confirm the fitted controls and any one-touch or anti-pinch functions. We check the mechanism as well as the electrical fault before deciding whether replacement or initialisation is appropriate.
Door glass, regulators and part numbers can differ. Front and rear, left and right parts also need to be matched to the affected door.
Which door, what the glass does, and the year or body style if known. We may ask for the VIN or existing part number when confirming fitment. Older and imported Polos need their own parts check.

Straightforward repairs may be completed the same day after diagnosis and parts confirmation. Wiring faults, damaged guides or parts ordering can take longer.
Straight answers before you book in. More Polo jobs are on our Volkswagen Polo repair page.
A repair is typically AED 350 to 550 and a new motor AED 750 to 1,200 fitted. If the regulator has also failed, a full motor and regulator assembly is about AED 1,200 to 1,600 per door.
Noise and movement guide the checks but are not conclusive. We assess the mechanism, glass attachment, switches, power and ground under load, wiring and available module data before recommending a motor or regulator.
Lost learned positions after power loss are one possible cause. Resistance in the guides, alignment or a control fault can also make the glass reverse. Follow the handbook procedure for the actual car; repeated resetting or forcing it closed can conceal a mechanical problem.
Straightforward motor or regulator work may be completed the same day after diagnosis and parts confirmation. Wiring damage, tight guides or ordered parts can take longer. We confirm timing for the agreed repair.
Do not keep operating loose, tilted or dropping glass. Keep hands away and ask about safe assessment or transport. An open window leaves the cabin exposed; we assess whether the glass can be secured safely while the correct repair is arranged.
We offer genuine Volkswagen or OEM supplier motors and regulators, and both are priced on the quote so you can choose.
If the motor tests serviceable and the fitted design allows separate replacement, a regulator-only repair may be appropriate. We quote the required component after inspection; the listed full-assembly estimate does not mean both parts must always be replaced.
Tell us which door is affected and what the glass does; the year is helpful if known. We explain the checks and estimated cost before you approve work.
