VW Passat ABS Module Repair in Dubai

ABS, ESP or traction control light on in your Passat? A wheel speed sensor, wiring, supply voltage or the module can cause these warnings. We find the real fault with VW diagnostic tools at our Al Quoz 4 workshop, then repair or replace only what has failed.

ABS module repair AED 2,500 to 4,000. Indicative Dubai price. Sensor and wiring faults usually cost much less, and we quote after testing.

Quick answer

Passat ABS module repair fixes the control unit that runs the anti lock brakes, ESP and traction control. Module repair costs AED 2,500 to 4,000 and replacement AED 7,000 to 8,000. The light alone does not identify a failed module. We compare fault data, wheel speed signals and power supply before recommending a repair.

These are alternative repair guides, not cumulative charges. The written quote confirms diagnosis, removal/refit, parts condition, required coding, fluid and bleed work, VAT and any separate pump or wiring repair. Do not add a second removal/refit charge to a repair estimate that already includes it. Extra work needs approval. Our Volkswagen ABS module repair page covers the same work on other VW models.

What your Passat warning lights mean

The warning combination guides the checks, but does not establish the fault. With an amber ABS warning alone, conventional braking may remain while anti-lock protection is unavailable. Follow your vehicle manual; changed pedal feel, reduced braking or a red brake warning means stop safely and arrange assistance.

How the Passat ABS system works

Four parts work together. A fault in any of them turns the light on, which is why we test the whole chain. Wheel speed sensors sit next to the hubs, where Dubai heat, sand and dust can damage the sensor and its wiring.

  1. Step 1

    Wheel speed sensors

A sensor at each wheel reports speed to the module many times a second.

  2. Step 2

    ABS control module

The electronic unit spots a wheel slowing too fast, about to lock.

  3. Step 3

    Hydraulic unit and pump

Valves release and reapply pressure to that wheel in rapid pulses.

  4. Step 4

    ESP and traction

The same unit also brakes single wheels to keep the car stable.

Passat ABS by generation

Passat platforms and market versions use different ABS part numbers, software and setup procedures. The table is an identification guide, not a parts catalogue; the actual unit label and vehicle data determine compatibility.

PassatEnginesABS notes
B6, 2006 to 20101.8 TSI, 2.0 TSI, 3.6 VR6ABS and ESP module with electronic parking brake. Check sensor circuits, supply voltage and the actual fault before condemning electronics
B7, 2011 to 20151.8 TSI, 2.0 TSISimilar layout to the B6, module coded to the car after replacement
US built, 2012 to 20192.5, 1.8 TSI, 2.0 TSI, 3.6 VR6Do not select the ABS unit using European B7 fitment alone; identify the market version and installed part number
B8, 2015 onwards1.4 TSI, 1.8 TSI, 2.0 TSICheck the applicable coding and basic settings; calibrations depend on the fitted systems and repair performed

We match the vehicle data and installed unit number, including supersessions, before ordering. The model year alone is not enough.

Repair the module or replace it?

Choose after testing confirms an internal ABS fault. A wheel-speed sensor, damaged cable or supply problem needs its own repair, not an unnecessary replacement module.

When the original unit is repairable

Repair your existing module

AED 2,500 to 4,000Indicative module repair budget

Consider repair when the confirmed internal electrical defect can be corrected and the unit can be verified afterwards.

What decides suitability?
The fault, internal condition and available repair method. An error code alone does not establish that a board repair will work.
What should the quote include?
Diagnosis, removal and refitting, the agreed repair and any required coding or settings. Identify separate pump, wiring or hydraulic work.
Before you approve
Confirm the expected repair time, verification checks and applicable warranty terms. Repairability is assessed before committing to this option.

When repair is unsuitable

Fit a compatible replacement

AED 7,000 to 8,000Indicative replacement budget

Consider replacement when damage cannot be repaired reliably or a suitable repair is unavailable. The installed unit must match your Passat.

What decides compatibility?
Vehicle data, the installed part number and revision, and the car’s fitted equipment. Model year alone is not enough.
What should the quote include?
The replacement’s brand and new or remanufactured condition, fitting, required coding and basic settings, and fluid or bleeding work where needed.
Before you approve
Confirm parts availability, the complete fitted total, collection estimate and applicable warranty terms before a replacement is ordered.

These are alternative guide budgets. Your written quote confirms parts, labour, diagnosis, required setup, hydraulic work and VAT. Pump repair has a separate guide of AED 2,000 to 3,500 when needed; charges must follow the actual agreed scope.

Discuss your ABS quote

Our ABS repair process

From the first warning to the final checks, each stage helps establish what failed and what work your Passat needs. You approve the repair after the findings are explained.

  1. Record the warning and fault data

Check the warning combination, braking symptoms, stored faults and available live data. Assess brake condition before deciding whether a controlled road test is appropriate.

  2. Check the signals before the module

Compare wheel-speed signals and inspect the relevant sensor, encoder ring, connector, wiring and power supply. Use the test procedure for the fitted sensor rather than a generic resistance check.

  3. Confirm the fault and agree the repair

Carry out applicable pump, valve and module checks. Explain whether the findings call for a sensor or wiring repair, hydraulic work, module repair or replacement, then provide the written quote.

  4. Complete the approved work

Repair or fit the agreed component. Carry out the required coding, basic settings and brake bleeding for the vehicle and work performed; each operation is identified in the repair scope.

  5. Verify before handover

Review warning status, relevant live data and braking operation, followed by a controlled road test only where safe and a final fault scan. Explain the completed checks and any remaining findings.

Red brake warning or changed braking? Stop safely and arrange assistance. Tell us if the pedal feels different or braking is reduced; recovery may be needed before workshop testing.

Passat ABS questions

Straight answers before you book in.

How much is a VW Passat ABS module repair in Dubai?

Module repair is typically AED 2,500 to 4,000 and replacement AED 7,000 to 8,000 including coding. Sensor or wiring faults are priced after testing; the quote states the complete fitted work and any separate diagnosis.

Can I drive with the ABS light on?

With an amber ABS warning alone, anti-lock protection may be unavailable even if conventional braking feels normal. Follow the displayed warning and vehicle manual and arrange prompt assessment. With a red brake warning, changed pedal feel or reduced braking, stop safely and call; recovery may be needed.

Is it the ABS module or a sensor?

Either can cause warnings. Compare wheel speeds, encoder condition, sensor circuits, power supply and communication. An internal fault code still needs the applicable checks before a module is condemned.

Does a new ABS module need coding?

Yes. A replacement module has to be coded to your Passat and calibrated, and the brakes bled. We do this with VW diagnostic software.

Will my Passat pass the RTA test with the ABS light on?

An ABS warning needs diagnosis regardless of renewal timing. Inspection requirements and the vehicle findings determine the outcome; we cannot guarantee a pass from clearing a warning. Repair the underlying fault before presenting the car.

How long does an ABS repair take?

A straightforward sensor repair may be completed the same day after diagnosis and parts confirmation. Module work may take one to three working days, while specialist repair, parts sourcing or additional hydraulic faults can extend this.

ABS light on your Passat?

Tell us which lights are on and how the brakes feel. The year and a safely taken dash photo are helpful if available. We explain the diagnostic next step and quote before repair approval.
