VW Polo Radiator Replacement in Dubai

Coolant leaking at the front of the car, the temperature rising in traffic or the AC getting weaker at idle? The radiator and AC condenser share the front cooling pack. We pressure test and check airflow, fans and coolant circulation before replacing a radiator confirmed to be leaking or restricted.

Quick answer

Replace a Polo radiator when testing confirms a leak, damage or restriction that calls for replacement. Traffic overheating can also involve fans, the pump, thermostat or other cooling faults. We test the cooling system under pressure and check the fans first. An OEM supplier radiator costs AED 600 to 1,000 fitted with coolant, and the full range is AED 600 to 1,400, on a written quote.

How much does a Polo radiator replacement cost?

Plan around AED 600 to 1,400 depending on the engine and the part choice.

Signs of a failing Polo radiator

Coolant loss and rising temperatures need checking. The radiator, fans, pump, thermostat or hoses may be involved.

Arrange a cooling system check

  • Coolant drips at the front, near or under the bumper.
  • Coolant level keeps dropping or the low level warning returns.
  • Temperature creeps up in traffic, even if it drops again on the open road.
  • Fins look blocked or bent, with dust and sand restricting airflow.

Stop safely and call

  • The gauge is in the red, a red temperature warning appears or steam escapes.
  • Coolant sprays or leaks rapidly from a cracked tank or connection.
  • The fans run at full speed but the engine continues overheating.
  • Oil and coolant appear mixed, which needs urgent investigation.

If the temperature keeps rising, stop safely and switch off. Never open a hot coolant reservoir. Weak AC alone does not prove a radiator fault. Shared airflow can affect both systems. See our Volkswagen radiator service.

How the Polo radiator keeps the engine cool

The radiator releases engine heat through coolant flow and airflow.

01. Heat arrives

Hot coolant enters

Coolant carries heat from the engine into the radiator. The pump keeps it circulating through the cooling system.

02. Heat leaves

The core transfers heat

Thin aluminum tubes and fins transfer heat from the coolant to air passing through the front grille.

03. Air keeps moving

Fans help in traffic

Electric fans draw air through the cooling pack at low road speeds, helping the radiator release heat when natural airflow is limited.

Leaks and blockage reduce cooling

Heat cycles can make plastic end tanks brittle at the seams and hose connections. Dust, sand and damaged fins can restrict airflow through the core.

The AC and radiator share airflow

The condenser normally sits ahead of the radiator. Fan or airflow faults can affect both systems, while pump, thermostat and coolant faults need separate checks.

Why Polo radiators fail here

The radiator sits at the front of the car and takes the worst of the heat and sand. In our workshop we check the fins and end tanks for these faults.

Cracked plastic tanks

Years of heat cycles make the plastic end tanks brittle.

Blocked fins

Sand and dust block air flow, so the engine runs hotter in traffic.

Old coolant

Deposits build up inside and reduce cooling.

Stone damage

Highway driving can puncture the core.

Match the radiator and cooling pack

The engine, transmission and cooling equipment decide the part. A generation label or a similar looking core is not enough to order a radiator.

CheckWhy it changes the job
Engine and part numberConfirm the core, hose connections and mounting arrangement for the actual application.
Transmission and cooling equipmentCheck any integrated or separate transmission cooling connections and auxiliary cooling fitted to the car.
Fans and airflowAssess fan operation, external blockage and the condenser before condemning the radiator.
Coolant and related leaksMatch the VW coolant approval. Identify cap, hose, thermostat or pump faults separately.

How we replace a Polo radiator

Usually two to four hours, with cooling system checks before and after fitting.

  1. Confirm the leak

Pressure test the cooling system and check the cap, hoses and radiator connections.

  2. Check fans and temperature

Test fan operation and control, and assess temperature readings before recommending replacement.

  3. Fit the correct radiator

Install the matched radiator with the required clips and seals.

  4. Refill, bleed and test

Refill with the specified VW coolant, bleed the system and check for leaks, stable temperature and fan operation.

What affects the price of a Polo radiator

These are the main things that change your quote.

Gearbox typeAutomatic Polos use a different radiator in some markets.
Parts choiceOEM supplier and genuine VW radiators are both priced.
FansA failed radiator fan adds to the cost.
Hoses and capWorn hoses or a weak cap found during testing are priced separately.

How to keep a Polo radiator healthy

A little care goes a long way in UAE heat.

  1. Keep cooling pack airflow clearHave blocked fins assessed and cleaned without bending them or soaking hot electrical parts.
  2. Use the specified coolant approvalMatch the required VW approval and mixture. Colour alone is not a specification.
  3. Watch the gauge in trafficA rising gauge or warning needs prompt action. Some faults first show as coolant loss or a smell; do not wait for the gauge to rise.
  4. Check before summerA cooling check can reveal developing leaks or airflow faults before summer.

Polo radiator questions

Straight answers before you book your Polo in.

How do I know my Polo radiator is leaking?

Drips or dried coolant at a radiator seam or connection are useful clues, but hoses, the pump and other parts can leak nearby. We inspect and pressure test as appropriate to locate the source before quoting a radiator.

How much does a Polo radiator cost in Dubai?

Plan around AED 600 to 1,400 fitted with coolant.

Can a Polo radiator be repaired?

A hose, clamp or connection fault may be repaired without replacing the radiator. External debris may only need careful cleaning. A damaged tank, leaking core or confirmed internal restriction needs assessment; replacement is quoted when a durable repair is unsuitable.

Why does my Polo overheat only in traffic?

Reduced airflow at low speed can expose fan or cooling-pack problems, but low coolant, circulation or thermostat faults can also contribute. We check the system rather than diagnosing the radiator from the traffic pattern alone.

Does the radiator affect the AC?

The systems share airflow through the front cooling pack. A fan or airflow fault can affect both, but weak AC does not by itself mean the radiator needs replacement.

How long does the job take?

Straightforward replacement is usually estimated at two to four hours after diagnosis and parts confirmation. Seized fittings, additional leaks or other cooling faults can extend the job.

Can I use water instead of coolant?

Follow the vehicle manual if coolant is low. Never open a hot reservoir. With overheating, steam or a persistent red warning, stop safely and switch off rather than relying on a top up. Use the specified coolant approval and mixture.

How often should coolant be changed on a Polo?

Follow the schedule for your actual engine and coolant specification. Check concentration and condition. Contamination, incorrect mixing or repair work may require renewal.
